In the state of Arkansas, Emergency Medical Services are controlled by the Department of Health. The duties of this branch is to managing and licensing EMTs, providing EMS training, inspecting ambulances, and also assisting hospitals and other government institutions in the state in all areas related to emergency care.
EMT Levels in Arkansas
Similar to most other states, there are three (3) levels of EMT certification in Arkansas. These levels include EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic. The terms are slightly different, but the levels are on par with the standard levels across the country, which generally are EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, and Paramedic.
EMT Training Arkansas
If you are interested in enrolling in an EMT training program in Arkansas, rest assured the process is quite
straight forward. There are several locations in the state that offer EMT training courses. You can view the full list of locations here. At the primary level of EMT certification in Arkansas, EMTs will be taught based on the NREMT curriculum used for the standard EMT-Basic. Once students have completed their training course, they will take a psychomotor test in which they will demonstrate what they were taught throughout the course (known as the Arkansas Practical Skills Exam). At that point, students will need to take the NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) Exam, and if they pass the exam, will officially be a licensed EMT in Arkansas.
